Just an encouraging story that occurred not to long ago...
Micah, who is now five, was in the back yard with me, when he noticed that we have cherries now growing on our trees. A child with SMS usually clasps his hands together and draws them to their chest when excited (in the same manner many toddlers do). So, imagine my five year old doing this, while jumping up and down. And "listen" to our conversation!
-----------------------------
Micah: (Sharp intake of breath)
Mom: What is it, Honey?
Micah: Dey's chay-wies on da tee! (There's cherries on the tree!) He loves cherries!
Mom: Yes, that's right. (So begins my simple "science" lesson...) Do you remember the little flowers that were on there, that we called blossoms?
Micah: Yah.
Mom: Well, each of those blossoms fell off so a cherry could grow there. And when the cherry is ripe, we eat it.
Micah: (Very excitedly- this is where he jumped up and down and clasped his hands together toward his chest...)
GOD ES DOUGH NEAD!!!!!!! (God is SO Neat!)
And he spreads his arms wide to show just how "neat" God is!
-----------------
Now, to be honest, I didn't even think of how God was in it. Not one bit. I just know that cherry blossoms drop off the tree and leave a young cherry there to grow... "simple" as that!
But here, my young son never forgets God is in absolutely everything. These are the moments I cherish with a son who can, at times, absolutely wound a mother's heart... Yet, I am reminded of yesterday and where there is the healing (and powerful reminder) of the heart of a child.
Now, don't you wish you could think of God in that way? Remembering always how "NEAT" God is, and how He is within HIS creation!?!?!? Each time I think of my son's reaction/statement last night... I can't help but smile and think of how pleased the Creator must be to hear those things from the mouth of a child, and how often He must wish to hear that from the mouths of us who are not quite "babes" any longer. (I'm reminded also that no matter how close *I* think I am to God... when compared to a young boy... my heart and faith can be found quite lacking.) No wonder the Lord wants us to be as little children!
So, I encourage you to take today and remember just how "NEAT" God is!

This is so sweet Brandy Lynn! I was just thinking the other day how relaxed I've been lately about continually pointing my children's attention toward Christ. Sometimes it takes them to do it for us! Thank you for this reminder!
