It's snowing and excitement is in the air...

Today we woke up to snow. My children are beside themselves. I do believe that I have heard some rendition of "It's snowing" at least 1,000 times in the past four hours. Their excitement makes me keep my mouth shut. It's supposed to warm up to the mid-40's for tomorrow. Not much chance of snow sticking around. So, of course, I will allow my children to spend the 30 minutes or so getting dressed in proper snow attire to play for 15 minutes in the snow before they deem it "too cold". =) I remember those days of my childhood when the first snowflake of ANY snowfall meant hats, scarves, mittens, and warm coats. It didn't matter if we were only catching a few on our tongues with our faces outstretched to the sky. It was snowing! (Of course, it is the blizzards that we would always wait for in anticipation... "perhaps THIS will be one... " And, growing up in the far North of Minnesota- it DID happen often. And it never dulled on our young hearts.

This reminds me of my children's excitement over the workings of the Lord. Not only the snow, but the caterpillars, the leaves changing colors, and even the wind carrying away the bubbles into oblivion. This morning I was pondering, how much do I take advantage of the beauties of God? I realize we live in a fallen world, and the beauty left here is nothing compared to what it was in the Paradise in Eden. And all I can do is anticipate and dream of the future Paradise I will be a part of. But in the meantime... am I truly amazed at the things of God? Does the fresh snowfall remind me of the clean heart I was given the day I accepted the Lord as my Savior? Does the illuminating rainbow after a cleansing rain remind me of the wonder of the Lord's promises to His children? Am I truly excited over my Lord?

It is my prayer that I will be reminded through my children, and through the Lord's creation of just how much my puny little self means to the Lord that He willingly came to sacrifice His ALL for me. And, in return, I want to offer Him my ALL! Even the praises over snowfalls, rainbows, and children's laughter.

Blessings,
